Yokohama Adult Entertainment Guide for Foreign Visitors

Yokohama skyline at night with Minato Mirai lights

Last updated: October 2026

Yokohama’s adult-entertainment geography is easy to misunderstand. Older English guides still describe Koganecho as the city’s main red-light district even though the area has undergone major cleanup and long-term art-led redevelopment.

Meanwhile, current venue-based adult businesses remain active around parts of Naka Ward, particularly near Kannai, Akebonocho and Fukutomicho, while outcall services operate more broadly across Yokohama.

Japan Nightbook uses this guide to separate what exists now from what belongs to Yokohama’s adult-entertainment history.

Where Is Yokohama’s Adult Entertainment Today?

Interactive Google Maps: Key Yokohama Nightlife & Adult-Entertainment Areas

These maps are included for geographic orientation. Business status, foreigner acceptance and service type are verified separately from Google Maps data.

Akebonocho / Kannai — Current Venue-Based Adult Area

Fukutomicho — Current Soapland & Nightlife Area

Koganecho — Historic Red-Light Area, Current Art-Led District

Noge / Sakuragicho — Mainstream Drinking & Nightlife

The strongest current concentration that can be verified is in and around the Kannai–Akebonocho–Fukutomicho side of Naka Ward.

That is different from simply repeating names that appear in decades-old red-light-district articles. Outcall services are geographically different again: they depend on provider coverage and the exact hotel rather than one street.

Japan Nightbook therefore separates venue geography from outcall coverage.

Kannai, Akebonocho & Fukutomicho

Kannai

Kannai is the most useful central reference point. It is a major JR and subway station close to Yokohama Stadium, Isezakicho, Akebonocho and Fukutomicho, with easy access toward Chinatown, Bashamichi and the waterfront.

Kannai itself should not simply be labeled “the red-light district.” Its importance for this guide comes mainly from proximity to several currently operating venue-based businesses.

Akebonocho

Akebonocho is one of the clearest present-day examples of a Yokohama area where venue-based adult entertainment can currently be verified.

Quality Plus YOKOHAMA is currently listed at 1-5-4 Akebono-cho, Naka-ku. Its current foreigner-facing information identifies it as a soapland service parlor, states that foreign visitors are welcome, lists business hours of 9:00–24:00 and places it approximately ten minutes from Kannai Station or five minutes from Isezaki-Chojamachi Station.

Its web reservation is provisional until multilingual chat confirmation is completed. That distinction is more useful to an overseas visitor than generic promotional wording.

Fukutomicho

Fukutomicho is another area where current venue-based adult entertainment can be verified.

JAPANCLUB Playboy is currently listed at 3-6 Fukutomi-cho Nishidori, Naka-ku, approximately five minutes from JR Kannai Station and three minutes from Hinodecho Station. Its current foreigner-facing listing identifies it as a soapland service parlor welcoming foreign visitors and publishes current prices and multilingual booking information.

Isezakicho

Isezakicho is geographically close to Kannai, Akebonocho and Isezaki-Chojamachi, but Japan Nightbook avoids treating the entire shopping and commercial district as one adult area. Specific adult-service claims should be attached to specific current businesses.

Historic Koganecho: What Changed?

Older travel guides may still describe Koganecho as Yokohama’s red-light district. Historically, there is a real basis for that reputation.

According to the Koganecho Area Management Center, the number of illegal brothels in the area had reached approximately 250 by 2004. Local residents formed an environmental cleanup organization in 2003, and Kanagawa Prefectural Police subsequently carried out an operation to close illegal establishments.

In 2008, art and cultural studios were created in cooperation with Keikyu and Yokohama City, followed by the first Koganecho Bazaar. Art-led community regeneration remains active in 2026.

The accurate description is therefore:

Koganecho has an important place in Yokohama’s adult-entertainment history, but describing present-day Koganecho simply as a red-light district is outdated.

Noge, Sakuragicho & General Nightlife

Noge is highly relevant to Yokohama nightlife but not because it should be marketed as a sex district. Yokohama’s official visitor guide describes it as a neighborhood of casual izakaya and restaurants — a local drinking town.

Sakuragicho is a gateway between Noge and the Minatomirai waterfront. Minatomirai is primarily a hotel, convention, shopping and tourism area rather than an adult-entertainment district.

Types of Adult Entertainment in Yokohama

Escort & Outcall Services

Outcall services are geographically flexible. The customer contacts an agency and requests service at an accepted hotel or other approved location. The exact hotel, delivery area, total price and visitor rules matter more than the district name.

Soaplands & Other Venue-Based Services

Current foreigner-facing listings confirm active soapland businesses around Akebonocho and Fukutomicho. Foreign-customer acceptance remains a business-level policy. The existence of several foreigner-friendly venues does not justify saying “Yokohama soaplands accept foreigners” as a citywide rule.

Massage Services

Massage-related adult services should remain a separate category. The previous Yokohama articles blurred erotic massage, Nuru massage, escorts and soaplands. The rebuilt site classifies each provider according to its actual current service type.

Bars, Izakaya & General Entertainment

Noge, Kannai and other central neighborhoods contain large amounts of conventional nightlife. A user looking for bars and drinking is not necessarily looking for escort delivery, and neither is necessarily looking for a venue-based adult service.

What Can Foreign Visitors Actually Use?

Yokohama currently has businesses that explicitly welcome overseas visitors. But “foreigner-friendly” should not become a vague badge.

Field What it tells the user
Foreigner acceptance Will the business accept an overseas customer?
English booking Can the reservation process be handled in English?
Multilingual chat Is translation-supported messaging available?
Spoken English Can staff communicate verbally in English?
Woman’s language ability Can the individual provider communicate directly in English?

Translation-assisted booking can work well even when spoken English is limited.

How Booking Works & Current Prices

Outcall Booking

Send the provider the exact hotel name, date, preferred time, preferred woman, course length and contact method. Ask:

“I’m staying at [hotel name] in Yokohama. Is [name] available tonight around 9:00 p.m. for [course length]? Please confirm the total price including transportation, nomination fees and any other charges.”

Several current Yokohama booking systems use a provisional-booking model: the web request is submitted first, staff then contact the customer through multilingual chat, and the reservation becomes final only after the follow-up confirmation.

Venue Booking

Before travelling, confirm current availability, course duration, total price, nomination fee, optional fees, payment method, foreign-customer acceptance, reservation status and exact address.

Current Yokohama Listings & Availability

Static “Top 10” lists age badly. The editorial page explains Yokohama; the live directory should answer who is operating and available now.

Can an Escort Visit My Yokohama Hotel?

An outcall provider being willing to deliver to Minatomirai, Yokohama Station or Kannai does not automatically mean the hotel permits outside visitors in guestrooms.

There are two independent rules: the provider must accept the destination, and the hotel must permit the visitor under its current accommodation rules.

InterContinental Yokohama Grand

The current official rules state that meetings with visitors should take place in the lobby, guests from outside the hotel must not be invited into guestrooms, overnight stays by unregistered persons are prohibited, and guestrooms may not be used for purposes other than lodging and dining without hotel approval.

Japan Nightbook therefore does not advise users to bypass reception, visitor registration or key-card controls.

Yokohama Royal Park Hotel

Yokohama Royal Park Hotel suspended hotel operations on March 31, 2025 for major renovation work. The hotel currently plans to reopen in 2028, with the final reopening date still to be announced.

The old Japan Nightbook hotel-specific escort article should therefore not be treated as current advice.

Yokohama Visitor Essentials

Haneda Airport to Yokohama

Keikyu currently gives an approximate journey time of 28 minutes between Haneda Airport and Yokohama. For many international visitors, Haneda → Keikyu → Yokohama Station is the simplest rail route.

Yokohama Station is best for transport and hotels; Sakuragicho/Minatomirai for the waterfront and convention area; Kannai for access to Akebonocho, Fukutomicho, Isezakicho and central Naka Ward.

Yokohama City Hall currently provides free Wi-Fi in selected areas under the SSID Yokohama_Free_Wi-Fi, with 30 minutes per connection and up to five connections per day.

Cash & Currency Exchange

Travelex currently operates at Keikyu Yokohama Station and in the Yokohama Porta underground mall. ATM withdrawal may be simpler for many travelers, but keeping Japanese yen available remains useful.

Yokohama’s official visitor organization maintains a dedicated food-diversity database. Halal, Muslim-friendly, no-pork, no-alcohol, vegetarian and vegan should remain separate labels.

Avoiding Scams, Rules & Getting Help

Choose the business yourself and confirm the price before paying. For outcall services, keep the booking messages showing the woman, course, location, transportation fee and total price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Yokohama’s main adult-entertainment area?

For current venue-based adult services, the strongest verified concentration is around parts of Naka Ward, particularly Akebonocho and Fukutomicho near Kannai.

Is Koganecho still Yokohama’s red-light district?

Not in the simple way older guides suggest. The historical reputation is real, but major cleanup and art-led redevelopment have transformed its present-day identity.

Are Yokohama soaplands foreigner-friendly?

Some currently are. This is a provider-level policy, not a citywide rule.

Can I book in English?

Some businesses offer multilingual chat or translation-assisted booking. That does not mean every staff member or woman speaks English.

Can an escort visit my Minatomirai hotel?

Possibly, depending on both the agency and the hotel. Always check the exact property.

Is Yokohama Royal Park Hotel currently open?

No. Hotel operations have been suspended since March 31, 2025 for major renovation, with reopening planned for 2028.

How much should I expect to pay?

There is no useful single Yokohama-wide average. Compare the current provider, course, nomination, transportation and payment fees.

How long is Haneda Airport to Yokohama?

Keikyu currently gives an approximate time of 28 minutes.

Is there free Wi-Fi at Yokohama subway stations?

Do not rely on old articles saying so. Yokohama Transportation Free Wi-Fi ended in March 2024.

What should I do if I have a serious problem?

For immediate danger or crime, call 110. For non-emergency Kanagawa Police consultation, use 045-664-9110 or #9110.

Official Sources & Useful Links

How Japan Nightbook Verifies This Guide

Yokohama provides several good examples of why verification cannot mean “we found a webpage.” The source has to be authoritative for the specific fact.

  • Hotel visitor policy → the hotel’s current official rules
  • Airport transport → railway or airport operator
  • Tourist information → Yokohama official tourism authority
  • Wi-Fi → Yokohama City or facility operator
  • Restaurant status → restaurant official source plus current tourism listing
  • Adult venue price → current venue or current foreigner-facing listing
  • Foreigner acceptance → current provider-specific source
  • Police contact → Kanagawa Prefectural Police
  • Historical district change → city or local regeneration organization

If two sources conflict, Japan Nightbook does not average them. If a current fact cannot be verified, it is marked unknown or omitted.

Unknown is better than confidently wrong.
